A day of remarkable connections

It's been a day of remarkable connections for me.

☀️ A morning conversation with Caitlin Walker (PhD) and the Clean Language Systemic Modeling community offered a new angle on one of the groups I facilitate, inciting me to ask:

- Are they in safety, belonging or freedom?

- Where are they on the spectrum between fragile and anti-fragile?

🧮 Next, I brought this inquiry to a workshop debrief, where we worked through how to shepherd the group where they want to go — in this case, out of the cozy nest of belonging into anti-fragile freedom, where they can take action.

👩‍🎓 Then, I joined a community engagement training with the Collective Impact Forum led by Dominique Samari and Paul Schmitz that had me nodding, scribbling notes, asking questions and applauding throughout.

🕸️ Near the end, I experienced sudden insight into how the parts of my work, both past and present, interconnect:

➡️ Cultivating self-awareness, empathy, and curiosity helps you build the foundation for both leadership and teamwork. Without these skills, any strategy or action plan are built on shaky ground.

➡️ The lessons I learned from the Solutions Journalism Network and Trabian Shorters about the value of asset-framing and listening to a broad range of voices resonated like a familiar and beautiful song.

➡️ I know from working in avalanche terrain (and re-learn daily in my knee healing odyssey) that while best practices are incredibly useful, each situation is different and you have to adapt to the context to meet the people working alongside you and those you intend to serve.
