Elderberry harvest w/ Quinn Institute founder Bob Quinn

October 1, 2025

What a treat to spend Saturday morning with my friend and collaborator, the visionary, pioneering food systems leader Bob Quinn.

Bob, who farms in central Montana, is an entrepreneur several times over, one of the leading forces behind the birth and growth of the U.S. organic movement, and now the founder of a nonprofit research center, the Quinn Institute.

We picked elderberries at a friend’s house in town, then headed to the winter farmers market, where Bob talked to nearly every farmer and vendor in the building.

THIS is how he brings to life ideas that are 10, 20 and even 30 years ahead of their time: He makes friends everywhere he goes, listens and talks to people, and never gives up. I see joy, curiosity, persistence and faith.
